Lauren E. Peters is a visual artist working with the concepts of identity and gender through self-portraiture. Peters is currently the 2023 Individual Artist Fellow for Visual Arts: Painting, awarded the grant as an "Established Fellow.”

Protagonists' large-scale paintings feature female mythological and literary characters or archetypes, placing these figures at the center of their own narrative.
