Beginners and those familiar with ceramics are invited to our clay-making workshops. Our teaching artists specialize in various building techniques and will introduce you to the medium and language of clay. This season we are focusing on the ceramics we use in our everyday lives. Each workshop you will construct and decorate items to beautify and personalize your home. These workshops are appropriate for visitors 12 years and older.

Curios Cabinet
Saturday, January 25, from 12:30 - 4:30 pm
You will use hand-building techniques to create small figures of plants, animals, or things perfect for setting on a desk, shelf, or in your curios cabinet. Artist Anna Freeman will guide you through designing and building your creatures and settings.

Setting the Table
Saturday, February 15, from 12:30 - 4:30 pm

You will use underglazes and other ceramic techniques to decorate a ready-to-go dining set which includes a pre-made dinner plate, soup bowl, and goblet. The instructor will guide you on color selection and brush techniques to achieve your desired effect. Once fired, they will be coated in a food-safe clear glaze, ready for you to use.

Kitchen Tiles
Saturday, April 5, from 12:30 - 4:30 pm

You will carve into clay slabs and paint with underglaze on finished tiles to create a set of decorative kitchen tiles or functional trivets with cork backing. These 8” square tiles are the perfect canvas for you to extend your personal touch into your cooking space.
