ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
“Art making can be a conscious entry into the unconscious, a dance between the intentional and unintentional. I am fascinated with observing people and places and thinking about their stories. Many times, observation and getting lost in the work reveals surprises, messages, metaphors, lessons, and moods. I love capturing a gesture or a hint of what I see to express something we all share. It is my intention to create paintings with richness and energy, that have a history of their own, stop at a moment in time, then develop a relationship with the viewer going forward.” - Caroline Chen
Itzel Aguilar (b. Georgetown, USA, 1988) is a visual artist based part time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Delaware. She attended the Delaware College of Art and Design in 2009 and was self-taught from thereafter. Aguilar expresses her Mexican and indigenous identity, mental health and healing journey through various mixed media techniques.
