A year of perspective and perseverance
Pinckney began the journey to design a fashion experience representing the spirit of the suffragist with historical silhouettes and turning picket signs into wearable pieces of art.
These looks were to be featured in an Art & Couture event originally scheduled for April 25, 2020. Due to COVID-19, this was reenvisioned as a stunning filmed masterpiece released in October 2020.

The Delaware Contemporary successfully launched our public art initiative to encourage civic dialogue and community development by turning the exterior of our building into a public exhibition space named The Platform Gallery.
A key goal for 2020 was to raise the profile of art in our community and to make art accessible to the greatest number of people in the public space. Public art is one of the most democratic of art forms as it connects people in social and cultural conversations and helps to navigate shared and unshared histories.
To celebrate this successful launch of the public art initiative, The Delaware Contemporary worked with city and state officials to host a COVID-safe drive through opening event.
Complete with a DJ and an immersive experience to “drive” inside an abstract world, attendees participated in an interactive art project from the safety of their vehicles.
